I keep getting "The connection to the server has been lost" message whenever I try starting Anno 2070. I haven't been able to play or rather start the game since i bought it yesterday.

I have no firewall/anti virus problems as I also have settlers 7 and that works fine.

Which Anti virus are you using. People with AVG are having a problem. Try turning off your Anti virus.

I am having exact same issue. Can login in to uplay, but get connection to server lost error as well. I am using Eset Internet Securoty and am able to get Settlers 7 to work with no issue. http://forums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Well I am using Microsoft Security Essentials and I tried logging with MSE turned off too but still the same error: "The connection to the server has been lost"

For the record I have bought digital Deluxe edition from gamersgate uk.

Yes I run the same anti virus. You will have to go to gameersgate support. It looks like most people that bought it from the other gaming stores and not Ubi are having connection problems.

Try to delete your hostfile.
Depending on your OS system, this is the path;
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
In the etc folder you will find the Host file.
Just right click and delete, it might give you a more open internet connection. The file is not that important, and will be re-create by the system on a next start up. but the game wont be affected anymore...

Same issue here, even with antivirus and firewall both turned off.

mrkeys2009
19-11-11, 12:54
you need to edit the HOST file in

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Open with notepad in administrator mode if in vista or 7.

Delete all the text or on the lines after it enter this:

127.0.0.1 localhost
static3.cdn.ubi.com 87.248.207.150

Hopefully that will work...

It's not the Antivirus or Firwallsystem.
Is a Ubisoft Features. The name of this thing is "Server Down" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

And I enter Day 3 since I bought the game and still haven't been able to get on it even once. No acknowledgment from the ubi tech team that there is a problem and we will fix it.

I can wait a week or even a month or even 6 months but just acknowledge that there is a problem so that i know i am not the only one.

I'am having the same same issue also! I bought this on Steam (as I was having trouble with ubisoft store) and I have turned off my firewall and anti-virus. Please fix this soon! http://forums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I discovered, after 10 hours of trying all manner of methods, that Peer Block was in fact preventing the game from connecting and once disabled had no further problems. So, just check the background problems you are running and trying disabling as many as possible if other methods suggested here do not work.

Turtle, have you tried turning off all the background programmes you have running - or as many as possible - even the ones that don't seem likely to be effecting the internet? Luckily I had a laptop and installed it on that and was able to fully register and authenticate the game on that machine. This made me realise the problem was somewhere in my setup rather than the game. Could you try installing on another computer?

jkapp4heels

Below is the reply I got from support. I am assuming my issue is number 4, considering I am on a college server. I am not sure how to follow the directions however considering I have the steam version of the game. And I have no clue what the new setup values of the proxy would be.

1. Some anti-virus or firewall programs may prevent the Game Launcher from communicating properly with the service. Please make sure that you have updated any anti-virus or personal firewall software you have installed. Some software may need to be uninstalled from your computer to play the game. Programs known to interfere with the Game Launcher:

ZoneAlarm
NetLimiter
Avira
Komodo
Hamachi
Rogers Online Protection
Ultimate Arena
CA Security Suite (also known as "My Kids")

2. You will need to make sure that the following ports are open on your router or DSL modem's hardware firewall:

TCP ports: 80, 13000, 13005, 13200-13999

Unfortunately, we cannot provide assistance with opening ports, since the procedure depends on the configuration of your network. If you are unsure about how ports work, please contact your router manufacturer directly. Also, you may need to update the firmware for that device if there is an update available.

3. Are you able to access the following URL?

http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orb...st/satellitelist.txt (http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/satellitelist/satellitelist.txt)

the resulting page should look like this:

216.98.51.199
216.98.51.201
216.98.51.202
216.98.51.203
216.98.51.204
216.98.51.205

If not, please let us know immediately and attach the three files requested below in item (5) to this incident.

4. This problem may have to do with connecting through a proxy server to connect to the Internet. Please note that if you are playing the game on a corporate or university network, you are most likely using a proxy of some sort. The Ubisoft Game Launcher uses the Windows settings for the http proxy, but some configurations could experience problems. If you connect to the Internet through a proxy, please try the following:

- Locate the settings.ini file located in the installation directory of the Ubisoft Game Launcher (C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher)
- Open it with Notepad, and add the following at the bottom of the document:

[ProxySettings]
ProxyHost=proxyhostnamehttp://forums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_razz.gifroxyport
OverrideProxySettings=1

You will need to change the proxyhostname and proxyport to the values setup for your proxy. You can USUALLY find this information by:

- Open Internet Explorer and go to Tools --> Internet Options
- Click on the Connections Tab and click on LAN Settings.
- The Proxy HostName (address) and Port can be found in this window.

If you don't know this information or are unsure how to find out your proxy settings, you may need to contact your ISP or network administrator for more information.

5. If you continue to experience a problem, please send us all the .txt files in the launcher install dir:

On Vista/7 --> C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\logs\

The files we will need are:

launcher_log.txt

network_info.txt

@jkapp4heels Thank you vmuch for the post. I think my issue is number 5 as my launcher_log.txt is full of errors.

Now if only the tech staff can look at my launcher_log.txt I can finally start my game. I see a ray of hope now. http://www.ubisoft.de/smileys/chatten.gif

If you are at a college./university, then you are behind a firewall with no open ports. You simply cannot play this game (or any MP Steam game for that matter).

Your only option is to play in offline mode (after an initial activation from another network (your friend house etc..., or god forbid, from tethering your phone).

Turtle315
22-11-11, 13:25
As I mentioned earlier abouut my launcher_log.txt having errors...that file is needed only if step 3 doesn't work i.e.

3. Are you able to access the following URL?

http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orb...st/satellitelist.txt

the resulting page should look like this:

216.98.51.199
216.98.51.201
216.98.51.202
216.98.51.203
216.98.51.204
216.98.51.205

My resulting page looks like that..damn I am back to square one I suppose http://forums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I appreciate the reply, but this isn't true. I can play Battlefield and Left 4 Dead 2 along with a plethora of other games online.

Hey there I had the same problem turned out to be ESET firewall blocking the game.
Added a rule to allow anno5.exe TCP/IP communication and the problem was solved.

Hope this helps some of you

Day 6 : Same problems nothing has been changed. Haven't been able to get on the game since 17th Nov.

I just have windows firewall which is configured to allow anno2070 and mse anti virus so nothing is blocking it thats for sure. I get on Settlers 7 in a second.

Did you try to use a proxy in a previous installation attempt?!?

Delete the following line from your registry, if it is there, but be sure to make a back-up of your registry first, in case something goes wrong!

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Related Designs\AutoPatcher\ProxyConfig

@Turtle: Please deinstall all elements of the Anno installation. Make sure, that you deinstall the launcher manually if neccessary! Use a registry cleaner to detect and clean remains from the installation.

Then disable your antivirus software (just in case it is blocking elements of the .exe when installing) and try reinstalling the game.

NEVER EVER give such an advice!
NEVER EVER follow such an advice!

The hosts file contains the addresses that override the DNS lookup of your computer.
For example:
To stop your GF from buying stuff on ebay.com, add a rule that redirects the ebay.com domain name to the ip-address of Google.

This is just a simple example BUT!!!!!! some services and/or network configurations depend on these DNS overrides to let them work properly.

This is a system file and should not be edited unless you know what you are doing. You are telling them to remove it completely! Who is going to fix the stuff you broke huh? Don't give such advices when you don't know where you're talking about.

Day 8: Awakenings

I was so happy when there was a patch being downloaded yesterday, but it didnt solve my not connecting to server problem http://forums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Yes I had opened a ticket on day of release 17th nov till now a tech has just informed me to connect to the internet hardwired instead of wireless which i never do.

Yesterday I un-installed my virus program (Microsoft Security Essentials), shutdown my windows firewall, un-installed Anno2070 and ubi soft launcher, manually removing any leftover folders in the directory, re-installed anno2070 from the installation file but same problem.

Just tell the tech people to patch anno2070 exactly like settlers 7 it works flawlessy, use that code or whatever someone.

Some links with the same problems as me :

http://forums.ubi.com/eve/foru...1064939/m/1771052249 (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/9751064939/m/1771052249)

I'm follwing this thread since days because I have the same problem as turtle. I could never join the game because of this connection lost blabla. The installations seemed to be fine, no problems with updates too, but I have also the errors in the logfile. So it's the fu...ing launcher which makes problems. I tried everything I found out in forum but nothing helped.

So you're not alone turtle xD.

Day 9 : Good Morning friends !!

Well I used my brother's ( a different ) isp connection and was able to get online with the game finally after 9 days. Now I am glad the game atleast starts in offline mode and online too if i use my brother's isp. I am glad that I am able to play missions, single player campaigns etc.

But I havent seen or bought a game in years that has ever had a problem connecting to their servers with my isp. Why Anno2070? What kinda special ports or instructions is this game using? If this is sorted out I can finally get online and enjoy this game fully, taking part in world events etc...

Jooniper.Pearl
27-11-11, 01:04
My husband just bought this game for me today and after installing everything, I cannot play. I keep getting that connection to the server has been lost. Nothing I've done has worked. I've disabled my anti-virus, I've deleted my host file, I've edited my host file, I've even installed it on another computer and I'm receiving the very same error message. I'm hardwired into my router on my desktop, my laptop is wifi, same issue on both.

What next? I've created a ticket, but seriously. What is so freaking complicated about making a game work when you install it?

Tallantis

Same here, tried everything and Ubi is not responding so far. If you get a solution please post it. But one thing is clear, the matter is something with the Gamelauncher and its connection issues.

Day 10 : Are you'll using netgear router by any chance? My netgear router has this firewall enable/disable thing and u can't disable it no matter what.

A. I am thinking that could be the problem.
B. Since its connecting flawlessly with my brother's isp it has got to be isp ports which is blocking the game i think...

Oh how I wish it was that easy. I have a DLINK router and I even tried by passing it last night, still no go. I took my laptop to my Moms and tried with her ISP. Turtle315
27-11-11, 10:42
@JooniperPearl

I can very well understand your plight. I bought this game on release and wasnt able to start it even, for 9 days. I still wouldn't have if not for my brother's isp.

I too just bought a d-link router today to see if the game goes online but sadly it didn't http://forums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

27-11-11, 11:23
I don't if you have tried this but have you tried to connect right to the cable modem?

On all modems there is a reset buttom in the back of them. You will have use a paper clip or something small.

Try and reset them. Cable modem you will hold the reset button in till all the lights go out & then release it.

You do the samething for the router. But if you want to reset the router back factory settting you wil have to unplug it.

Then hold the reset button in for 30sec to 60sec.

I think this might also be a solution for Anno 2070 but it didn't work for me. But I'm not shure if I didn't make a mistake.

It means also an error from Ubisoft with windows and the temp-files. That's much more plausible than a router problem or anything.

Jooniper.Pearl
27-11-11, 17:00
@dmdilks

I've already tried bypassing the router. I've even gone to someone elses ISP and I'm still having the same issue so I know it is not my connection. It has something to do with the game launcher. Until that is addressed, nothing is going to work. As it stands, I'm taking the game back tomorrow. When I called Best Buy to ask about their return policy, the told me they have had about 20 people so far return their game. Same issue.

Good Morning all, My brother gifted me this program through Steam on Saturday and we have been playing it all weekend... except the only way I can play it is by turning OFF my AVAST Antivirus software suite.I am running 2 routers 1) is my Optik Highspeed main router and the 2nd is cascaded behind it for extra ports and I have my WIN 7 firewall running.
With the game running I can ALT TAB and turn on my Antivirus, however moments later once back in the game I loose the online connection to the game sever. So I ALT TAB back out ... turn OFF my AVAST....again.... go back into the game and click on the little red icon in the top right corner and im back online.and it doesnt matter if im just in the game menu or in an actual game , its always the same situation.
And its NEVER a good idea to be running without your AV program running.
So what gives exactly ?

This is not an issue on the players part.. This is an issue from the Ubisofts servers.. I been playing this game since the release and with mostly doing multiplayer me and 6 other people on different location 5/6 using different antiviruses and firewalls getting Dc'd at the exact same time.. It's not our fault.. It's theirs, they just need to fix this.. Nothing you can do about it other then reconnecting when you get Dc'd

Installed the game on the laptop of my mother and it works fine. So it is something with my windows not the network. Someone said that you need just one log in anywhere and you can play on offline mode. I loged in on my mothers Laptop so why didn't the game start on my pc in offline mode? Just trying to connect to the server again and fail.

So after receiving the information that you have to register the installation and not just the game with the key I'm again on zeropoint. Funny that I need to install Windows next week, so I will try a login with a clean Windows 7.

Hey Guys, Ive read your comments and i have the same issues since the 21/11/11 i contacted the support team on that day. They replied on the 22nd and ive not heard from them since.

This is completely disugsting. All i want to do is play the game.

Ive taken all firewalls down and unistalled all antiviruses. allowed the ports and i still cant play..

I dont have a issue playing any other online games as im a avid MMO player.

Even the new star wars beta i connected with no issues..

PLEASE REPLY TO MY SUPPORT MESSAGES!!!! how can a game provider provide no support....

Ive paid for a service that i am not recieving for over a week now...

Same here, never got a reply. But I managed to localize the issue somewhere inside a Windows routine, a false registry or something else, so don't try to change the settings of your router oder the isp.

If this so called server is fixed then why is Anno 2070 asking me for a Proxy server address even before the game has appered on the screen ?

Come on Ubi pull your finger out and get the server back, up and running allready.

Ok so after much trial and error and a few tech calls I have solved my Problem.
Apparently during the installation process ANNO 2070 tries setting up improper settings for the different antivirus programs available on the market.
If anyone is interested I can include a reply showing what settings have to be changed in your AV to allow the program to run properly. If you look back in this particlar Posting you will see what problems I was having.

I found where the registry file should be, but I do not have the UseProxy file. I just have file named default with no data key.

I'm going to try re-installation and choosing to not to let it set everything up and see if that makes a difference.

Dorfski39
30-11-11, 22:42
If you do a re-install , make sure you turn OFF your AV and firewall before the install. then turn it back on after your first start up. ( make sure it does the Activation thingy.... then when you get to the main game menu, just exit the program normally and turn the AV, and firewall back on the go back into the game.... you might get a popup in the background of the game( just use your windows Start key to go back to your main computer desktop to verify if there is a popup asking if you want the game to allow internet access.

Okay girls and guys. I reinstalled windows form windows 7 Home 32bit to Proffessional 64bit. (Not for Anno but for my new crucial m4 SSD) The first thing I did was to download the nvidia driver and than installing Anno 2070 directly....As I thought it works fine. I don't know what it is. I need to change some network options for my xbox and if Anno works also fine after this, I don't realy know what the f....ck problem the other Windows installation has.

So if you make a ticket to ubisoft, just say that it has nothing to do with the router, isp or anything. It's just windows.

I will try to find differences, but I'm not that much pc pro at all.

Remember when you would install a game and it would work? Man those were the days.

Right, i have this problem, downloaded and installed from steam about an hour ago. Now i consistently get "Connection to the server has been lost" and as far as i know, the servers are not down at the moment.

I have tried all the system editing, port forwarding, and conflicting program solutions. I do not have AVG, i have windows firewall and F-Secure both of which i have virtually (not actually) neutered to get this working.

So i'm lost now. Anyone who can help, just let me know what you need and i'll send you the info. God this is annoying.

After installing everything, Anno works fine. So if you are a hardliner and want it to play so bad...reinstall windows. Install the game on a clean windows and it should work. Not realy a solution but better than nothing. It seems that the UGL has problems with older windows installations, the ones with many registry entries or anything that changes windows. To sensitive this crap.

Try logging out of Uplay and switching to offline mode, it worked for me. It got to the login screen spent a few seconds trying to login then let me play.

It did mean that my settings which must have been saved to my online profile were gone so I had to reactive the right-click menu, the alternate road building, and change from the horrible red to a different colour.

Thank you for contacting Ubisoft Technical Support regarding Anno 2070.

In order to respond to this email, please update this incident (Please do not create a new incident)

In order to help you with your problem please try the steps below:

1. Disable anti-virus and firewall that are installed on your system, this includes the windows Firewall.
Also update the routerīs firmware at home. If after updating this the problem persists, you need to uninstall the anti-virus and firewall temporarily only to the time of activation and make a direct connection to a cable modem.

2 . If you can not disable the firewall, you need to configure the router or firewall opening the following ports:
80
3074
Ubisoft Game Launcher Ports:

TCP: 80, 13000, 13005, 13200-13999

If you are unsure of how ports work, the best course of action may be to contact your router manufacturer, system administrator or ISP for more information. http://portforward.com is another good resource.

3 . Disable background programs:

To do this, go to Windows Start>> Run (if you have Windows Vista / 7, you must press the Windows key and "R" simultaneously to get to this window).
Type "MSCONFIG" and click OK>> Home.
Click the Disable All.
Click Apply, Close and Restart the computer.

4 . There are some restrictions given by the ISP. Please contact your ISP if there is any restriction on the ports mentioned above.

5 . Make sure you're not connected in any proxy server.

6 . If you have any emulation software (eg Cyberlink, Alcohol 120%, Daemon Tools or Nero) you may have conflicts . It is necessary to disable or uninstall these programs when playing the game.

_______________________________________________
Basically it wants you to format your computer and install no security.

Somewhat similar to a white-list instead of a black-list for a server. DENY EVERYTHING until given permission. Horrible way to run a software-selling company.

Sorry but this is Ubisoft Support Copy&Paste bullshit. If you have connection problems you would have them with every program. Like I said the UGL has a problem with everything what is including corrupted reg entries etc inside windows. Connection, isp, ports change...will not solve the problems.

I'm still dealing with it. I did everything what was previously speaked but it didn't help. I found game log files and there were reports about errors like that:

Ok, same issues here.
I bought the game 3 weeks ago and still have not been able to get it to run once. FYI its the standard retail box edition, IE not Steam etc.

Patch server connection is fine. Updates are being received. The news feed on the launcher is fine.My problem is on the screen where you see the globe spinning and it asks you to log in (IE after the launcher and in the actual game) then I get the "Connection to the server has been lost" error message. I get the error instantly, so unless its trying whilst the splash screens are running, it's more accurate that it doesn't get a connection in the first place.

I have used the on- and off-line patches, I have installed three times. The Install keycode (as the manual terms it) was registered online and presumably accepted.
The last installation was after disabling all my start-up programs and installing in safe mode. I then tried to run it in safe mode with no firewalls or antivirus (or any other) software. No dice. Then again after restarting my machine with all my startups back on and my Firewall & AV.... No dice.

I have spoken to Ubi support through the ticket system, which they have now discontinued because I didn't respond within 48 hours (but they can leave you hanging for 5 days).

I have spoken to them via Facebook.

I have spoken to them on their national rate telephone line (in the back of the manual).

I have had further ticket correspondence after speaking to them on the phone and being told it was being escalated to a supervisor. I then continue to get replies from the tech I originally spoke to, who seems to have forgotten everything I told him and he can't have made any notes because he's repeating steps I have already been through with him.

All my ports are open.

I am not running from behind a proxy.

I have tried deleting and editing the host file

I have tried the wired and wireless connections.

I have spoken to my ISP and they are not blocking anything.

As I cannot login to the game to authenticate it, I can't even play offline.
I am playing other games online with no problems and this is the most trouble a game has given me in 15 years of PC gaming.
I am disgusted with Ubi's response overall.

Any further suggestions gratefully received.

Moryarity

Hi there,

I am sorry, that you have this problem. As I do not know, what the support already walked you through, forgive me, if I repeat some steps again.

Just for clarification: You did manage to register the game to your Uplay (Ubi) account, did you?

The problem occurs when trying to starting up the game itself...

Which type or router are you using?
Did you try to delete your host file?
Did you try to reinstall the game launcher (not the Anno game itself)?

elderwood
28-01-12, 15:33
Hi Moryarity, thanks for your interest.

I can log into my Uplay account, thats fine. As for registering, I remember doing it, but didnt pay much attention because it's the sort of thing I have done loads of times and didn't expect a problem. I just had a quick look my the account details and I can see if it retains what games I have. All I have in the history are 2 entries "welcome to Uplay" one looks like for signing up and the other for choosing PC as my preferred system.
Edit : On closer examination, in the games section Anno 2070 has a small blue flag in the upper left corner of the box-shot containing a small white gamepad/controller. This suggests it has recognized that I have at least tried to play.

The problem occurs after I click play in the bottom right of the Anno launcher window. I get 3 spalsh screens (Ubisoft etc) then it shows a glob spinning on a starry background and an animate "Logging in" display. It then reverts to "The connection to the server has been lost" leaving me with only the options to try to log in again or to quit out.

And yeah, I have both deleted and edited the host file in the methods outlined in other threads on this site. I have now edited my original post to reflect this.

My router is an O2 Wireless Box II. I have setup the ports detailed in troubleshooting sections for Anno 2070.

With thanks,
Elderwood.

The error itself seem easy to solve. It's too straight forward. May be you can ask the support which HTTP server it is, and by using some network tools that should not be difficult to diagnosis what is happening.

run cmd
and run the following command(Just copy them and right click to paste in the command window):
nslookup static3.cdn.ubi.com
nslookup ubisoft-orbit.s3.amazonaws.com
nslookup onlineconfigservice.ubi.com

are they are return with a value 203.xxx.xxx.xxx or 216.xxx.xxx.xxx or 207.xxx.xxx.xxx but not a result 127.0.0.1?
And who know which http server are request for?

elderwood

ivan6346
28-01-12, 22:13
Quite odd, your lookup result are completely difference from mine. Can you confirm ns1.recursive.dns.com is the name server provide by your ISP(The name seem not likely to be, but I can't sure, so you may better contact your ISP)?
And I have help you to check who own the IP 92.242.144.50, I find that a UK company own this IP. Quite odd....... It just seem like a domain hijacking? Or may be you have join some special ISP plan(those plan that are bind with adv)?
It seem your name server resolve IP wrongly and cause you can't connect to the correct server. So I will suggest you try to use another name server(DNS service). There is a free dns service provide by google, if you don't mind google may have a chance collecting your browsing habit, here for your reference:http://code.google.com/intl/zh-TW/speed/public-dns/
And after changing dns, you may try the nslookup again to see if the result have any change.
Another way is to add the entire in the host file so it can bypass the resolve process, but I don't know all the UBI server and IP pairs, so I can't help with this, you may contact UBI's support for detail info.

You mis-understand that. Nslookup is used to check the IP of a domain, and static3.cdn.ubi.com is the domain own by UBI, so the IP should be own by UBI.

And I have help to check which DNS server O2 should defaultly use, I check that should be 87.194.255.154(dhr91o08xrgul.cloudfront.net), which are difference from your current setting ns1.recursive.dns.com which is a dns server at US
O2 dns setting for your reference:http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE/,/?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Broadband ),T=Broadband_Case,CASE=24812
(Still, please contact your ISP for detail information, as I can't make sure if all O2 plan are using the same setting)

And in fact you don't need to know how to adjust it to change the dns setting, as I know there is some program will adjust your dns setting while you install them, for example some malware, spyware, filtering service or something else I don't know, so I may suggest you to confirm with your ISP whether using this dns setting is the default O2 setting or not.

And as your dns result IP is not own by UBI, I can quite sure that the reason that make you can't login is related with dns setting. If there is any reason make you don't want to change the dns setting or fail to change the dns setting, another solution is just simple ask UBI support to give you all the domain/IP pairs of the login server and add them manually into the hosts file. As I mention before it can bypass the dns query process(windows defaultly use the hosts file value before trying to query from dns) so the wrong setting won't affect the result.

ivan6346
29-01-12, 17:54
Well. I think I am not far away from the answer, are you using an anti-virus name "comodo"?

elderwood
29-01-12, 18:38
Ivan,
I am indeed using Comodo Internet Security.
Although I feel I must mention that I have tried to launch Anno with it turned off. Also I installed it whilst Comodo was turned off. I include the info in case it's needed.

ivan6346
29-01-12, 19:45
Turning off doesn't mean the setting will change back to default value. it seem that while you install comodo, it will change your DNS setting, and DNS setting is a windows setting, I guess (I am not using, so I can guess only) it won't change back to your default DNS setting even if you uninstall the program. So it will keep query from comodo dns server even if you turn off the internet security. The easiest way to confirm is to do a "nslookup www.google.com" while turning off comodo, if server is still ns1.recursive.dns.com , that mean the IS won't change the DNS setting while turning off.

Well, while I am not a user of comodo, so I think it's the last post that I can help with. Good Luck. You may need both UBI's support and comodo's support to solve this problem.

elderwood
29-01-12, 21:10
Oh, waaaaait a minute!

I think I vaguely remember something about Comodo asking to run through secure DNS servers now...
This was a loooong time ago so I'd totally forgotten!

I'll look into this and report back over the next day or so :)

Thanks again for all the help, hopefully youve struck gold ;)

Ok, I have spoken to Comodo and they said that the actions I had taken should have disabled the Secure DNS Server.

I changed my settings in my wireless network connection to "Obtain DNS server address automatically" under the TCP/IPv4 properties. I then rebooted my laptop.

After doing a "nslookup www.google.com" I got the following results;

Server: O2WirelessBox.lan
Address: 192.168.1.254

Non-authoratative answer:
Name: www.l.google.com
Addresses: 209.85.147.103
209.85.147.105
209.85.147.147
209.85.147.104
209.85.147.99
209.85.147.106

Aliases: www.google.com

I'm not sure how to read these results tbh, but here they are.

The situation with the game is unchanged, still no connection. Any thoughts?

Did somebody menage to overcome this problem?
I'm still dealing with it. I did everything what was previously speaked but it didn't help. I found game log files and there were reports about errors like that:
"(Error|ed4,Da:2011-12-31 10:53:25) Tracking login failed, ReturnCode 0x80050002 (origin D:/1.3.9/OnlineSDK_Source_PC_1.3.9.53465/OnlineCore/src/Platform/Core/Result.cpp, line 27)"
Has somebody got any idea how to solve this problem? I'd be very grateful if anyone helps me.

Has anyone found a solution to this problem as I'm experiencing the exact same problem.

First of all, full credit to ivan6346. Without his help I would have spent more weeks futilely shouting at Ubisoft.

The fact is he pointed to 'Comodo Internet Security' as the potential problem and he was absolutely right.

I decided to remove Comodo, partly because of his suggestion but also, after extended use, because I have found it unnecessarily complicated to use, even with experience of several firewalls and security suites. I removed it and replaced the firewall with another one and Anno logged in on the first attempt.

It seems Comodo is a megalomaniac and was the culprit all along.

Once again, thank you so much for all your research and hard work ivan6346, I seriously could not have done it without you!

Top respect,

Elderwood.

Hmm, so it works for me now, seems like the problem for me was that it had not activated a second time, which I did not know was needed.
I got stuck on the login screen but after opening all the ports and telling Norton to allow all three Anno 2070/Ubisoft applications to run it worked if I clicked away the "The connection to server has been lost" message and tried logging in again and then provided my activation code one more time.

Does someone have a solution for my problem?
I have open the ports in my router and disable my antivirus program. (I have ESET Nod32). I really want to play this game!

and I bought it on steam.

Opened that ports but no luck.
The only thing I figured out that local port for anno5.exe is xbox. when resolving ports it names 3074. this port is opened? but still can't connect.

Same problem with the lost connection blablabla. I doesn't work on my PC, BUT(!) it works on my laptop (but my laptop isn't good enough for anno2070). What is the problem? I tried everything what people said on this forum, what to do?

Same issue here. Settlers 7 works ok, although HOMM6 does not.

Disabled router firewall and windows firewall rules. Disabled AVG. Still the game says Lost server connection (the ubisoft launcher appears to log in ok).

Always seems to be such a struggle with Ubisoft DRM games. Pretty sure this will be my last. But in the meantime I would like to at least see if this game was worth my money...

Details:
In Australia (Telstra ISP)
AVG
Netgear router
Other than HOMM6 online, all other games work fine (over 100 steam installed games, plus multiple MMOs).
Wouldn't touch host file (as should not be necessary), however can advise that it is blank (other than commetted out text). Cleared IP and DNS during a reboot of router.
I am able to resolve the ubisoft servers, however not get to http://static3.cdn.ubi.com/orbit/sat...ellitelist.txt

Only errors in launcher_log.txt:
2012-03-18 22:10:15 [ 2704] ERROR AdFacade.cpp (513) No such key 'en-US' for element
2012-03-18 22:10:15 [ 2704] ERROR AdFacade.cpp (513) No such key 'en-US' for element

I just bougt the game yesterday at Steam, first I have problems with the CD Key, no connexion to the CD Key server, but today, finally, I could connect and get my CD Key, but now the problem is the same you all have, I tried to ran the game from Ugame, and before the game asks me to log me with ID and pass, the server connexion lost message appears.

I tried with the offline option, but, since I couldnt log any time, the game asks me to insert user and pass, I do, but after that, guest, I receive the message "connexion with the server lost"

I tried stoping antivirus and firewall, I oppened ports 3074 and 80, and seriously, I dont know what else I can do.

Well it's been over a week now, and the game still wont work. Raised a ticket for this with Ubisoft support last weekend.
After days of Unisoft getting me to try the EXACT same troubleshooting steps, that in my ticket, I had outlined had already been tested prior to contacting support... I finally get a new response from "Craig"@ Ubisoft that my "CD Key hasn't been used yet".

And that's it. No other response, like "hey, reinstall the software a 3rd time", or "go to this area of the app to re-enter your CD key".

So replied with a pretty pissed off email. Hopefully I get some response other than "thanks for your feedback"!

The next question, how do I go about getting a refund? Seriously. Ubisoft can see my CD key has not been used, so they know I cannot play if they disable the key. I can provide them with a receipt from Steam.
As far as I am concerned, I have been sold a defective product.

Sorry to hear you guys are having so many network issues. I am jumping in quite late (admittedly haven't read all 13 pages) but it sounds an awful lot like a double NAT / software firewall problem.

Are you guys absolutely sure the ports are open, and the software firewall/ antivirus isn't blocking it?

One way to make sure is Port Checker, from http://portforward.com/help/portcheck.htm

Edit: These are ports, from Ubi

In addition, the following ports will need to be open in your router or any firewall software you may be running:

80
3074

Ubisoft Game Launcher Ports:

TCP: 80, 13000, 13005, 13200-13999

I had the same server lost issue but fixed the problem by removing my router (connect to the Internet via WAN connection). By way way, you also need to disable Internet security software.
The other way to fix this is try to enable DMZ (you need to set up this in router) to your the address of your PC where you will play this game if you don't want to remove the router.
