Worth if for getting troops?
I played with some mathematics to show the propability of getting troops in relation to the costs; This approach doesnt consider the other gains (Exp/Artifact/Resource/Quest/Mines) as well as using seals. Calculations are based on the informations of the Wiki (http://wiki-mightandmagicheroeskingdoms.ubi.com/en/vestiges)

1 Vestige Level
2 Propabiltity of collapsing Vestige
3 Propabiltiy of coming to the next Level
4 Accumulated propabiltiy of reaching the current Level
5 Accumulated propabiltiy of Vestige Collapsing
6 Propabiltiy of gaining troops
7 Troop amount
8 Accumulated Costs to reach the current Level
9 Profitabiltiy of troops if u get them and take them on the current level.
10 Profitabiltiy of troops of the previous Level if the vestige collapses multiplied with the propabiltiy of getting troops of the previews level.
11 Profitabiltiy of troops of the previous Level if the vestige collapses multiplied with the propabiltiy of getting troops of the previews level multiplied with the propability of reaching the current Level (except lvl 19, if u get troops u take them and dont go to lvl 20 cause there are no troops on lvl 20, so for lvl 19 it is profitabiltiy of troops of the current level multiplied with the propabiltiy of getting troops on the current level multiplied with the propabiltiy of reaching the current level.)

So if u go for troops via vestige, you get 0,15 troopstrength/gold investet in average (Average of last Column 11).
I think my calculations are correct, but if someone may correct me, im thankfull for that.

While your calculations are correct, they still cannot explain for the attractivity of vestiges (which many players use to boost their army strength, let's face it).

This is mainly due to the fact that you

(a) put too great an emphasis on the "cost" of building vestiges (your column 8). Most players who visit vestiges regularly will buy enchanted beams. So the "cost" is slightly higher (in real-world-money-terms), but it probably won't affect your ingame efficiency strategies. It could be argued you can buy your victory like that (and again, many people do it), but, that's the way the game is supposed to be, according to UBI;

(b) disregard the game time factor. Experienced players manage to enter a vestige after, say, two weeks of playing time, fight their way to level 17 or 18 and leave after that with their total troop strength increased by 50%, thus giving them an enormous advantage over players who do not follow that course (more cities, higher domination, more EXP etc.pp.). Even if they drop out at 12 or 15, they receive valuable bonus troops.

The main thing is that, with the item shop (or lots of luck finding the right artifacts), you may easily build yourself a hero that descends to level 15 in no time. That's what makes vestiges so efficient for the people who know how to equip and skill their heroes properly.

There are setbacks, mainly that vast armies pulled out of vestiges mix badly with your "normal" units (which are usually upgraded). But hey, that's for the rich and crazy to sort out among themselves...
