================================================ Originally posted by Meusa Tue August 16 2005 04:09: I have just found out that renaming bia.exe from the BrothersInArms\System folder to anything else increases my framerate dramatically and in most areas im getting double the performance! I have been having terrible mouse lagg and fps dipping to low 30's on my 6800GT / A64 3200+ making it really hard to aim and generally frustrating. I recently discovered that renaming the exe for Far Cry fixed a graphical problem I was having, seems the nvidia drivers were applying some kind of optimisations to the game by detecting the exe name. Anyway I thought id try the same with BIA, and didnt expect it to do anything, but its completely blown me away! 50+fps constantly at 1280 x 1024 8xaf where I would get 30 before! Mouse lagg has completely disappeared! The drivers im using are the official 77.77's. My performance problems came after the 71.89's I think which leads me to believe that the nvidia drivers are doing something very strange upon detecting bia.exe after the 71.89's. I seriosuly recommend anyone with poor performance (particularly with nvidia) trying this out, the difference is unbelievable. You may need to put some of your graphics options back upon changing the exe as they seem to go back to defaults. Default Renamed One thing i have noticed... If you compare the bushes on the left closely you can see that the image quality is slightly higher before renaming the exe even though the ingame settings are identical. ***EDIT*** The reason for the difference in image quality was that the ingame AF setting no longer seems to apply after renaming the exe, and must be forced on in the nvidia control panel. With 8x AF back on the image quality is now identical and the framerate is still considerably higher than it was originally, with practically no input lagg. ----------------------------------------------- Posted Tue August 16 2005 05:00 I have just done some further testing by renaming the exe back to the default of bia.exe and completely turning AF off. In the same location as the above screenshots the game runs at 45fps but the input lagg is awful, the game feels much slower than it does in the last shot where im getting 40fps with 8x AF. So even though renaming the exe does improve the framerates somewhat, the key issue is that input lagg is totally eradicated. The input lagg im refering to is where I move my mouse to look around and the graphics on screen are not snappy and do not keep up with the movements fast enough. The bottom line is that renaming the exe improves framerates by about 10 - 20fps, (you must now apply AF through the nvidia control panel) and gets rid of the input lagg that many seem to have with this game. Hope this helps!! ------------------------------------------------ seine PC Specs: Athlon64 3200 @ 2.36ghz Asus K8V-SE Deluxe 1GB Kingston PC3200 (DDR400) Galaxy 6800GT 256mb 370/1000 (came slightly overclocked on the core) Windows XP SP2 _______________________________ Crushda Forum Moderator
Forum-Netiquette

Forum-Terms of Use

>>stay tuned!<<
|
