General questions:
Q: Where do I get information concerning the copyprotection system? A: An excerpt from the product activation FAQ . The complete document can be found as a "Readme"-file in the folder "\support\en-GB\Manual" or "\support\en-US\Manual" on the 1404/DoD DVD or after the insallation in C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Related Designs\ANNO 1404\support.
Here is an information concerning the activation at PCs not connected to the internet:
Q: I've used all my 3 serial keys – how do I get new serial keys? A:If you need any further activations, please contact the support team (to the support)or use the solution centre (Solution Center). To do this, just use the „ask a question“ button in the top left corner of the Solution Center and put the following details in the question schedule:
You can find your serial key in front of your game manual. If you've bought your game via online download you'll need to take the serial key you've received by E-Mail from the corresponding online store. So using the hotline (with costs) is not necessary. The Solution center support is for free. Q: Where can I find Annopedia? A: Annopedia is no longer available in "Anno 1404". You can get hints for Missions by clicking on them on the left side of your screen. F: Cheats A: A translation of the answer given by Karrenschieber:
F: How do I create screenshots? A: There are 2 possibilities: possibility 1: Press "Print" on your keybord during the game. The screenshot will automatically be saved in the designated folder (see fruther down) possibility 2: During the game press the gearwheel formed button in the lower right side of the interface (options menu). Press on the button with teh 6 dots names (additional otpions" . There you can press photo and a screenshot will automatically saved in the designated folder. You can also include this photo button and your user-configurable interface by drag-and-Drop How this is down is desribed here. All savegames will be saved in the following folder: Windows XP: C:\Dokuments and Settings\[Your user name]\My Documents\ Anno 1404\Screenshots Windows Vista: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\Anno 1404\Screenshots You can take especially nice screenshots in the "postcard mode". The mode is aalso activated in the "additional options" menu or with the F1 hotkey comment from Annosiedler: Additionally you can deactivaate the interface with the key (i). This works in all view settings F: Where can I find my savegames? A: They are in the following folder Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\My Documents\Anno 1404\Savegames Windows Vista: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\Anno 1404\Savegames F: What are my possibilities to configure the interface? A: There is a nice description available created by Strike1975 (translation):
Features of the interface: That means you can create your own overview of the goods for each individual island. BUT be careful, the symbole will not be added to the list, but replace the old ones instead. This also works, if you click on a ship. A menu will open int he lower right corner of the screen. If you then click on the ship icon in this menu you can drag it to the interface. First, I thought htat it was only possible with warehouses, but it works with every building. To do this, you have to click on the building so the menu in the lower right corner will open. Then click and drag the house icon in the top section of this menu into the interface. This way, you can immediately jump to this building by clicking the icon in the interface. Works perfectly. (The menu on the left side with the mission goals.) Thats the German thread covering this topic http://forums-de.ubi.com/eve/f...1078286/m/6971022177 comment from haep1: This is a screenhsot showing the different areas to drag and drop icons to: ("Rechtsklick-Menü" means right click menu) F: Kann ich das Spieltempo beschleunigen oder verlangsamen?
A: Zunächst einmal gilt: Windows 7 wird NICHT offiziell unterstützt!! I've got a huge stick figure in my city! What's that? A: AAAAAAHHH! Suddenly a gigantic figure appears in my city! Well, don't be scared, it's nothing but a funny bug. This giant won't hurt anybody and he is not going to stamp down your city. Actually, it was originally a placeholder which was placed in Anno 1404 during the development. It has already been discussed a lot about this funny figure, if you want to join the conversations you should do this in these threads: for example: Giant stick figure?!? (PLEASE do not create new topics concerning this matter! Questions concerning the gameplay - Basic: Q: How do I start in a continuity game? A: First it is recommended for Newcomers to start with the campaign before you start a continuity game, because the first levels serve as a tutorial so that you are instructed and leaded threw the game. Explore an island and found a warehouse Here is a fantastic guideline, which leads you threw the early game play. Sorry, still in German... Lunarius Guideline Q: How do I set buildings and roads? For any constructions you always need a several amount of resources (construction materials are: tools, wood, stone, glass and mosaic) and money. First click on the button "construction menu". To build a road click on its symbol and then on the point where you want the street to begin. You don't need to hold the button down. Just move the mouse to the end point and click again to build the street. To construct a building choose it from the "construction menu". All edifices are sorted by civilization level. At the beginning there are only peasant buildings available. You have to connect all goods producing buildings to a warehouse or a market building with a street. All houses need a connection to a marketplace. Note that it is impossible to set every building everywhere. e.g. Lumberjack's hut needs trees. You recognize the radius within which the lumberjack is cutting the wood on the green area around the building before you set it. It is not forcibly necessary to set the lumberjack's hut into a forest. Once you place the hut, trees will be automatically planted around it. But they need time to grow and the planting will cost you some money.Houses have to be situated within the radius of a marketplace. Farms should be first set and then connected with a road. Finally you can click on the watering button (you find it on the top of the window) to cultivate all fields automatically. You can also set the fields yourself by clicking on the little fence button on the right. Mines or buildings like the stoneman's hut have to be set on or near by a natural resource. This is visible at the radius around the building. A lot of manufacturing buildings of higher civilization levels need goods from farms or other manufacturing buildings to process (e.g. weaver's hut needs hemp). Around those producing buildings you can recognize a radius before setting them. Within this area the worker is able to reach the demanded goods, so that there has to be a market house or the required factory (e.g. hemp plantation), which is then enlighten in green. Furthermore there are service buildings, which satisfy the social needs of your inhabitants. Those buildings have also a radius around them, within which the service is offered. Therefore you should place those buildings as central as possible in your town, even if you may demolish some houses. Some buildings need a several fertility. The fertilities of an island are shown in the middle top of your screen. Note that the desert on southern island has to be cultivated in general by norias. Also note that you can fill up every natural resource in "Dawn of Discovery" Q: How do I rotate buildings/fields? A: To rotate a building or a field during construction you just have to push the "."(point) or ","(comma) button on your keyboard. Note that you still can rotate buildings after building them. Just select the building and push "." or ",". Q: Which buildings do I need first? A: again we refer to Lunariu's guideline (we really should translate that fastly Q: Where is the difference between the people of the Orient and the Occident? A: Compared to the occidental people Nomads and Envoys have completely different buildings and needs. During the game you adopt more and more oriental buildings. Therefore you have to increase your reputation with the Vizier with the aid of gifts (special scrolls), which you get at Lord Northburghs. Note that the desert on southern island is not fertile. You can change that by the aid of norias. Q: What is the objective of a continuity game? A: Here you can define your own objectives or you play without any aim - just for fun and continuous by the meaning of the word. Q: Why do several buildings turn into red when I want to build them? There may be several reasons: Q: Why do all my cultivation wither? A: In the occident: Many buildings need the right fertility, which you can see in the middle top of your screen. If the required resource is not available on the island, you have to seek and settle down on an island with the resources or you buy the resources seed at a NPC's. Note that you only buy only crop seed. In the orient: It is similar to the occident, but you have to pay attention that deserts are only cultivatable by the aid of norias. Q: How do I satisfy the needs of my inhabitants? Note that settlers of different civilization levels have different needs. When you click on a house, you will also see a display of the people's needs. These are shown as bars that fill as needs are met, and empty as needs are ignored. You can click on any need to see what is required to meet the need. Demand for goods: On one hand there are needs for several goods, which are divided into: food, beverage, clothing and possession. Every single need is then again subdivided (e.g. food in the occident: fish, spices, bread, meat). The principal needs of occident and orient are almost identical and vary in the sub needs (e.g. nomads don't eat fish, but dates) The further your people progress in the civilization levels, the more advanced their needs are. Demand for service buildings: On the other hand there are needs satisfied by service buildings. These needs are: company, faith, amusement and security (no security in the orient). Every service building has a radius, within which the service is provided. A household outside of this area is not satisfied in the certain need. So you should place the service buildings as central as possible in your town to reach a maximum of households. Taxation: Another need is taxation. You can set the tax rate for a group of people by clicking on any house for that civilization level. There are five levels of happiness(dark green, light green, yellow, orange and red). The more you push the slider toward the red area, the more unhappy your residents are. When they are angry (red area) they move away, riot or develop back to the civilization level before. To allow your people to ascend to the next civilization level you have to set the tax rate to the lowest level (dark green area). Q: How do my people reach new civilization levels? A: The following checklist should help you in the ascension: click on a marketplace and click on the scroll at the top of the window to enable or disable automatically ascension. If you have disabled automatically ascension you can still manually advance a house by selecting it and clicking on the scroll at the top of the window. Q: All needs are satisfied - why do people still not ascend to the next civilization level? A: Check again the list from the answer before - do you satisfy all of it? Note that there's only a certain percentage of people who get the right of ascension, but never all (in a noble town still live peasants, patricians etc.). If you want more people to ascend you have to build new peasants houses. To check the number of ascending rights click on a marketplace and choose the sector "ascension rights" on the left side of the window. E.g. if there is written 31/31 under the nobles symbol, it means that you've reached the maximum number of nobles at this point in your town. Q: How does merchandising work? A: TO DO ... Q: How does diplomacy work? A: Open the “diplomacy menu” by clicking on its symbol. You have 4 different parties. 1. Yourself If you select yourself you can check your medals, bonus contents and your achievements. 2. NPCs: Lord R. Northburgh and Visier Al Zahir There are 3 different interactions with them : Change fame into money You choose from 3 amounts of fame (low, medium, high) and get the corresponding cash in return. The chance that the trade is being concluded is shown in percentage if you hold the mouse over the check button. It is 0 after trading and will regenerate slowly. Change money into fame The opposite Request a Fleet Change 300 (L.R.N.) or 400 (V.A.Z.) of fame into a war fleet. After requesting you have one hour of cool down until you can use this option again. Note that you can not request a fleet if you reached the maximum of your ship level. 3. NPCs:Corsair If you select the corsair you see a bar with a red, white, yellow and green area. It shows your reputation and corresponding your diplomatic status with the pirate. (red=war, white=peace, yellow=trade agreement, green=alliance). With the button on the left side of the bar you cancel your current diplomatic status and with the button on the right side of the bar you offer the next better diplomatic status. In order to the corsair not attacking any longer, you will have to provide him tribute. To ally with the him you can pay all the requested tribute or you refuse and defeat a certain number of his war ships. Before allying you will have to finish a special quest that depends on your way of dealing with the tribute exposure. 4. AI If you click on any other AI you will see a status bar that is identical to the corsairs one. The buttons for changing the diplomatic status are the same. In difference to the corsair you have additional buttons which allow you to influence your reputation with the AI. You can donate a certain amount of money or ingratiate to rise your reputation or You request tribute or insult the AI to lower your reputation. Note that there is the chance to fail at your intention so that nothing will happen (you don’t get tribute) or that your reputation will even lower. F: Wie funktionieren Handelsrouten? A: Dazu gibt es eine eigene Einführung von Lunarius: -> Zur Einführung in das Handelsroutenmenü <- F: Was bringt mir Ruhm und wie verwende ich ihn? A: Beantwortet von Annosiedler: Dazu gibt es ein nettes Video von GameStar das beschreibt was Ruhm ist usw. Q: How do I settle down in the orient? A: You necessarily have to found an oriental settlement to produce wares that are needed in your occidental city. You will get a caravel from Al Zahir if you reach the first rank of reputation with him (“visitor of the orient”). To get to this rank you must buy with fame a special scroll at Lord Northburghs, which you afterwards have to hand over to Al Zahir. On the afore-said caravel you will find enough construction material and food to found a first settlement. Note that the island you want to first settle down on should be fertile to dates. Questions concerning the gameplay - Advanced Q: How to act in the first hours of an continuous game in order to get a settlement with favourable balance? A: There is a really good manual from lunarius, which will guide you through the first hours of anno1404, bringing you to a starting situation, that lets your city grow to a huge metropolis. (this guide is kept in german, maybe lunarius will translate it one time) -> Link to the manual <- Q: Does there exist an overview for the production chains? A: holmexx and moriarity created such an overwiew. -> Overview by holmexx <- -> Overwiew by moriarity <- Q: How can i manage it to keep my balance favourable? A: Following a few corner marks to keep in mind: -it is very important to build enough residential houses, so that your yield of taxes are above your maintenance fee. nevertheless you need enough goods to keep your inhabiters happy. This is a little bit tricky at the beginning. practice makes the master. -as long as you do not want to rise your inhabiters to the next level, it is very important to let them pay more taxes. Go to the orange area (steadied) as long as you have enough goods for them. Do not move the taxes to dark green until you want them to grow up. -coming to the trading with goods. you can earn a lot of money doing so. Even selling goods such as tools, weapons, war engines or with goods from higher civilisation levels you can cause the trader on his shipping lane, to let a few thousand bucks in your cashbox. - if you are really short of money, you can check which companys can be inactivated temporarily, or even be pulled down. -hint by chill_eule: When you feel, that the sale in your own harbour is too slow, just put all your surpluss in a trading ship and go to lord northburg or vizier al-sahir. you can then sell them all the goods, which brings a lot of money, and is also an avenue to honour. On more small but fine possibility to earn money and honour is to complete the missions from the ai. This message has been edited. Last edited by: haep1, |

Q: How does the military system work?
A: The military system can be seperated in two sections: land- and sea battles. The seabattles are really simple in anno1404 yust like there werde in the previous anno-games. Just choose a warship and click on the enemy's ship you want to attack. Following you can find a few warships: Occidential ships: Small warship: http://img34.imageshack.us/i/k...neskriegsschiff.jpg/ Built in a small dockyard: http://img198.imageshack.us/i/...s/i/kleinewerft.jpg/ Requirements: 1. ? citicens 2. 1 ship limit Costs: 2000 gold 30 woods 30 ropes 20 weapons 30 maintenance fee Attributes: 1 chamber 1 slot 6 attck points 500 hit points Big warship http://img18.imageshack.us/i/groeskiregsschiff.jpg/ Built in a big dockyard: http://img268.imageshack.us/i/groewerft.jpg/ Requirements: 1. ? patricians or noble men 2. 1 ship limit Costs: 4500 gold 70 woods 70 ropes 20 cannons 60 maintenance fee Attributes: 2 cargo holds 1 slot 14 attack force 1300 hit points Flagship: http://img21.imageshack.us/i/flagschiff.jpg/ This is your first ship, and therefore also something special, because it is as well a warship as also a tradingship. in addition you do not have to pay any maintenance fee costs. You cannot build this ship in your shipyard, but you can buy a new one at lord northburg, if you should loose it. Requirements: 1. you have to develop to citicens Attributes: 4 cargo holds 2 special slots 4 attack force 650 hit points Oriental ships: There is one essential requirement for building oriental ships: "ally of the sheikh" Big oriental warship: http://img200.imageshack.us/i/...ischeskriegssch.jpg/ Built in an oriental dockyard http://img190.imageshack.us/i/orientalischewerft.jpg/ Requirements: 1. ? envoys 2. diplomatic status? 3. 2 ship limit Costs: 4500 gold 80 woods 80 ropes 30 war engines 20 maintenance fee Attributes: 2 cargo holds 2 special slots 10 attack force 1100 hit points Corsair ship http://img188.imageshack.us/i/kosarenschiff.jpg/ This ship can only be bought at the corsair, besides it does not take any profit from attainments. Requirements: 1. corsair pact 2. 1 ship limit Costs: ? gold 25 maintenance fee Attributes: 2 cargo holds 2 special slots 4/5/7 attack force (light/midlle/heavy corsair ship) 600 hit points Ship attainments: 1. occidental shipbuilding: (+5%/+10%/+15%) tons/hold (+5%/+10%/+15%) hit points (+5%/+10%/+15%) speed 2. dishonest methods: hit points (+5%/+10%/+15%) damage (+5%/+10%/+15%) speed (+5%/+10%/+15%) 3. historic warehouse monument: +15% tons/hold +5% speed Legend: 1. ship limit: The ship limit increases as your inhabiters become more and specifys how many ships you can own. This can be increased by several attainments. 2. special slots: You can put items into the special slots of the ships. with this items you can increase nautical or military attributes of your ships (e.g. 20% more speed or 15% more attack force) 3. maintenance fee: In difference to the one time bying costs you have to pay theese costs recurring. (can be reduced with items) Landbattle: Landbattles have been changes a little bit according tho previous anno-games. you do not control single units anymore, but army camps. army camps have to take position before they can attack or defend. as soon as you build army camps you can give them orders. However, theese orders can only be executed in a certain radius around the camp. You can give them the following orders: 1. move: With this order you can move the camp to another position. (there has to be enough space) 2. attck: The soldiers in the camp will attack a enemy camp or building within its radius. Victory depends on how big and strong yours and your enemys camp is. Shields above your fighting camp show your chance for victory. 3. assist: With this you can instruct one camp to assist another one. (again it has to be in its radius) the camp which will be assisted can now attack ore defend more efficiantly. 4. abort: All current actions will be aborted, and all soldiers returm back in there camps. (even they are currently fighting) Q: How am i able to battle an enemy fast and without much resistance? A: heres the stragedy: (assasins fortress is necessary on your card) 1. go to the vizier with a document. 2. on the island where the assasins fortress is found an oriental settlement and build nomads. 3. by the way, build your occidential settlement until hemp plants can be built. 4. reach the 2. oriental rank. 5. you should have produced hemp by now. do not use it for linen garments, but bring it directly to your island where you founded the settlement before. 6. ideally you can plant silk and indigo on this island. if not, found a second island where you can produce carpets. 7. lock the carpets for your nomads, and use the carpets for building as many assasins camps as possible. 8. attack!!!!!! hurry up, and be careful that your enemy has not developed to patricians, because then he can start a counter attack. although the assasins camps have more attack force, the big army camp has much more hit points and will destroy your assasins within seconds. Q: How do miners work? A: To get miners in your continuous game you need to develop 1400 envoys, so you can build an oriental castle, in which you can have miners. With miners you can infiltrate enemys buildings, even though a thick wall lies between you and your enemy. The miners will sink below it. You can contol them in the same way as normal military units. If you give them the order to mask, they are invisible for your enemy. In this case they cannot be moved any more. Giving them the order to attack, they will beginn to sink to the choosen building. Clicking on the miners camps shows their progress. Q: Where and how can i build a pearl diver hat? A: this hat has to be build on a southern islands shelf. an island that has such a shelf shows a shell in the resources bar. Q: Production chains: how many of a specific good do i need for a optimum usage rate? A:A: maggus1234 developed a genius tool, which can calculate this: -> the multilingual anno1404 calculator <- there is also a very nice listing in the forum, written by monkefl85: -> Here it is <- Q: Is there a possibility to refill all norias simultaneously? A: Yes, with patch 1.1 you can just need to click the shift-key while refilling one noria to fill all norias simultaneously. Q: How much building material do i have to ship to an island, to build certain things? A: DA: here's another great tool, developed by holmexx, which calculates this: -> building material calculator <- Questions concerning the gameplay - Professional/Endgame: F: Wie bekomme ich das goldene Schiff? Hey, common. I really appreciate your help and doing a translation of the German forum is a nice idea..but there are a lot of threads and the search function will not help you find anything with the translation.
Of course this thread is in German...till now, but we are working on translating it. ------------------------------------------------ And though we are not now that strength which in old days moved earth and heaven; that which we are, we are; One qual temper of heroic hearts, Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. I hope thats good enough for the moment.
German Version English Version: Q: I've used all my 3 serial keys – how do I get new serial keys? A: If you need any further activations, please contact the support team. To do this, just use the „ask a question“ button in the top left corner of the Solution Center and put the following details in the question schedule: <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> [Activation] I've done too many activations with my serial number. Hereby I ask for further activation codes. My serial key is: <><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><> You can find your serial key in front of your game manual. If you've bought your game via online download you'll need to take the serial key you've received by E-Mail from the corresponding online store. So using the hotline (with costs) is not necessary. The Solution center support is for free. German Version English Version: Q: Where can I find Annopedia? A: Annpedia is no longer available in "Anno 1404". You can get hints for Missions by clicking on them on the left side of your screen. German Version English Version: Q: Where can I find my save games? A: They are in the following folder: Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\[Your Username]\My Documents\Anno 1404\Savegames Windows Vista: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\Anno 1404\Savegames German Version English Version: Q: Does Anno 1404 work on Windows 7? A: At first there's something you should know: Windows 7 is NOT official supported. You'll get no support for this operating system; it is not guaranteed that this game will run on Windows 7. If you're using Windows 7 and you're having technical troubles with Anno 1404 you won't be eligible for any support. According to the existing statements given by users it seems that there are no known problems while playing Anno 1404 on Windows 7. There's just one drawback: You can not create an online profile on Windows 7. Here's one German thread that matches with this topic: http://forums-de.ubi.com/eve/f...1078286/m/8761009567 This message has been edited. Last edited by: Nehlaan, |

If I did any mistakes, don't hesitate to correct me.
Questions concerning the game play - questions in general Q: How do I start in a continuity game? A: First it is recommended for Newcomers to start with the campaign before you start a continuity game, because the first levels serve as a tutorial so that you are instructed and leaded threw the game. Explore an island and found a warehouse Here is a fantastic guideline, which leads you threw the early game play. Sorry, still in German... Lunarius Guideline Q: How do I set buildings and roads? A: For any constructions you always need a several amount of resources (construction materials are: tools, wood, stone, glass and mosaic) and money. [img:left]http://s8.directupload.net/images/090717/temp/m5pkewcc.jpg[img]Note that it is impossible to set every building everywhere. e.g. Lumberjack's hut needs trees. You recognize the radius within which the lumberjack is cutting the wood on the green area around the building before you set it. It is not forcibly necessary to set the lumberjack's hut into a forest. Once you place the hut, trees will be automatically planted around it. But they need time to grow and the planting will cost you some money. Houses have to be situated within the radius of a marketplace. A: There may be several reasons: Q: Why do all my cultivation wither? A: In the occident: Many buildings need the right fertility, which you can see in the middle top of your screen. If the required resource is not available on the island, you have to seek and settle down on an island with the resources or you buy the resources seed at a NPC's. Note that you only buy only crop seed. In the orient: It is similar to the occident, but you have to pay attention that deserts are only cultivatable by the aid of norias. Q: How do I satisfy the needs of my inhabitants? A: Note that settlers of different civilization levels have different needs. Taxation Another need is taxation. To do... Q: How does diplomacy work? A: Open the “diplomacy menu” by clicking on its symbol. You have 4 different parties. If you select yourself you can check your medals, bonus contents and your achievements. [list=2]NPCs: Lord R. Northburgh and Visier Al Zahir[/list] There are 3 different interactions with them : Change fame into money You choose from 3 amounts of fame (low, medium, high) and get the corresponding cash in return. The chance that the trade is being concluded is shown in percentage if you hold the mouse over the check button. It is 0 after trading and will regenerate slowly. Change money into fame The opposite, Request a Fleet Change 300 (L.R.N.) or 400 (V.A.Z.) of fame into a war fleet. After requesting you have one hour of cool down until you can use this option again. Note that you can not request a fleet if you reached the maximum of your ship level. If you select the corsair you see a bar with a red, white, yellow and green area. If you click on any other AI you will see a status bar that is identical to the corsairs one. … … Q: How do I settle down in the orient? A: You necessarily have to found an oriental settlement to produce wares that are needed in your occidental city. You will get a caravel from Al Zahir if you reach the first rank of reputation with him (“visitor of the orient”). To get to this rank you must buy with fame a special scroll at Lord Northburghs, which you afterwards have to hand over to Al Zahir. On the afore-said caravel you will find enough construction material and food to found a first settlement. Note that the island you want to first settle down on should be fertile to dates. F: Hilfe, ich habe eine RIESIGE seltsame Figur in meiner Stadt! Was ist das?
Q: I've got a huge strange figure in my city! What's that? A: Suddenly a giant character character appears in my city! Well, don't be scared, it's just nothing but than a funny bug. This giant won't hurt anybody and he is not going to stamp down your city. Actually it was originally a placeholder which was placed in Anno 1404 during the development. It has already been discussed a lot about this funny figure, if you want to join the conversations you should do this in these threads: ------------------- ------------------- ------------------- (Please do not create new topics about it!) |

Q: how to act in the first hours of an continuous game in order to get a settlement with favourable
balance? A: there is a really good manual from lunarius, which will guide you through the first hours of anno1404, bringing you to a starting situation, that lets your city grow to a huge metropolis. (this guide is kept in german, maybe lunarius will translate it one time) -> Link to the manual <- -- Q: does there exist an overview for the production chains? A: holmexx and moriarity created such an overwiew. -> Overview by holmexx <- -> overwiew by moriarity <- -- Q: how can i manage it to keep my balance favourable? -- Q: how does the military system work A: answerded by nick_12: the military system can be seperated in two sections: land- and sea battles. the seabattles are really simple in anno1404 yust like there werde in the previous anno-games. just choose a warship and click on the enemy's ship you want to attack. following you can find a few warships: occidential ships: small warship: http://img34.imageshack.us/i/k...neskriegsschiff.jpg/ built in a small dockyard: http://img198.imageshack.us/i/...s/i/kleinewerft.jpg/ requirements: 1. ? citicens 2. 1 ship limit costs: 2000 gold 30 woods 30 ropes 20 weapons 30 maintenance fee attributes: 1 chamber 1 slot 6 attck points 500 hit points big warship http://img18.imageshack.us/i/groeskiregsschiff.jpg/ built in a big dockyard: http://img268.imageshack.us/i/groewerft.jpg/ requirements: 1. ? patricians or noble men 2. 1 ship limit costs: 4500 gold 70 woods 70 ropes 20 cannons 60 maintenance fee attributes: 2 cargo holds 1 slot 14 attack force 1300 hit points flagship: http://img21.imageshack.us/i/flagschiff.jpg/ this is your first ship, and therefore also something special, because it is as well a warship as also a tradingship. in addition you do not have to pay any maintenance fee costs. you cannot build this ship in your shipyard, but you can buy a new one at lord northburg, if you should loose it. requirements: 1. you have to develop to citicens attributes: 4 cargo holds 2 special slots 4 attack force 650 hit points oriental ships: there is one essential requirement for building oriental ships: "ally of the sheikh" big oriental warship: http://img200.imageshack.us/i/...ischeskriegssch.jpg/ built in an oriental dockyard http://img190.imageshack.us/i/orientalischewerft.jpg/ requirements: 1. ? envoys 2. diplomatic status? 3. 2 ship limit costs: 4500 gold 80 woods 80 ropes 30 war engines 20 maintenance fee attributes: 2 cargo holds 2 special slots 10 attack force 1100 hit points corsair ship http://img188.imageshack.us/i/kosarenschiff.jpg/ this ship can only be bought at the corsair, besides it does not take any profit from attainments. requirements: 1. corsair pact 2. 1 ship limit costs: ? gold 25 maintenance fee attributes: 2 cargo holds 2 special slots 4/5/7 attack force (light/midlle/heavy corsair ship) 600 hit points ship attainments: 1. occidental shipbuilding: (+5%/+10%/+15%) tons/hold (+5%/+10%/+15%) hit points (+5%/+10%/+15%) speed 2. dishonest methods: hit points (+5%/+10%/+15%) damage (+5%/+10%/+15%) speed (+5%/+10%/+15%) 3. historic warehouse monument: +15% tons/hold +5% speed legend: 1. ship limit: the ship limit increases as your inhabiters become more and specifys how many ships you can own. this can be increased by several attainments. 2. special slots: you can put items into the special slots of the ships. with this items you can increase nautical or military attributes of your ships (e.g. (even they are currently fighting) -- Q: how am i able to battle an enemy fast and without much resistance. A: answered by salah_al-din: heres the stragedy: (assasins fortress is necessary on your card) 1. go to the vizier with a document. 2. on the island where the assasins fortress is found an oriental settlement and build nomads. 3. by the way, build your occidential settlement until hemp plants can be built. 4. reach the 2. oriental rank. 5. you should have produced hemp by now. do not use it for linen garments, but bring it directly to your island where you founded the settlement before. 6. ideally you can plant silk and indigo on this island. if not, found a second island where you can produce carpets. 7. lock the carpets for your nomads, and use the carpets for building as many assasins camps as possible. 8. attack!!!!!! hurry up, and be careful that your enemy has not developed to patricians, because then he can start a counter attack. although the assasins camps have more attack force, the big army camp has much more hit points and will destroy your assasins within seconds. -- Q: how do miners work? A: to get miners in your continuous game you need to develop 1400 envoys, so you can build an oriental castle, in which you can have miners. with miners you can infiltrate enemys buildings, even though a thick wall lies between you and your enemy. the miners will sink below it. you can contol them in the same way as normal military units. if you give them the order to mask, they are invisible for your enemy. in this case they cannot be moved any more. giving them the order to attack, they will beginn to sink to the choosen building. clicking on the miners camps shows their progress. -- Q: where and how can i build a pearl diver hat? A: this hat has to be build on a southern islands shelf. an island that has such a shelf shows a shell in the resources bar. http://s8.directupload.net/images/090718/36wgdyr7.jpg -- Q: production chains: how many of a specific good do i need for a optimum usage rate? A: maggus1234 developed a genius tool, which can calculate this: -> the multilangual anno1404 calculator <- there is also a very nice listing in the forum, written by monkefl85: -> Here it is <- -- Q: is there a possibility to refill all norias simultaneously? A: unfortunately not, they have to be refilled seperately. -- Q: how much building material do i have to ship to an island, to build certain things? A: here's another great tool, developed by holmexx, which calculates this. -> building material calculator <- the corresponding thread can be found here: -> discussion <- This message has been edited. As I mentione din my first reply, you should try a "Newly installed" browser wihtout any additional plug ins.
