You're supposed to lose the fight, I think. There are a number of posts about how to do this graciously. There's one option to declare peace with Lucius and then build up, but you still lose.
A lot of people say to put some trebuchets in the back, and keep armies in the front, and thus keep the enemy on the coast. That's really all I know about the level. Good luck. |

You can't win this combat against Lucius. You have to survive until the grand vizier is helping you to escape. Therefore the only main goal is to protect your keep in the city.
Don't try to avoid the invasion, it's not possible in this mission. The castle Lucius builds on the beach can't be destroyed, so stay outside of its range. This worked for me: besides completing the city walls i built another wall between the city and the beach. Outside this wall i had three big armies and three towers, enough for the first attacks. Then, when the attacks became harder, i retreated step by step, building one or two additional armies and two trebuchets behind the walls. If i remember right the trebuchets didn't very much harm to the enemy so they weren't very helpful. At the end - short before the escape - the armies of Lucius were just breaking through the city walls, still far away from destroying my keep. |

yeah .. and as you slowly get beaten back into your city walls other quests will open up (keep an eye on arrows poiting at buildings for side-quests)

Still having a problem. After you loose the game just sends you back to try again.

You can't contact the vizier directly.
After certain attacks Marie D'Artois notices that you will be defeated in the end. So in her warehouse she provides an expedition map for you. Load this map on a ship and activate it to send the ship to this expedition. The ship will automatically leave the map, calling the vizier for help. All you have to do then is waiting and surviving. After about 15 minutes the vizier appears and you can escape with him. |

I assume you finally got through this, Retired1936.
I did a search on the net for someone who hated this Chapter 6 as much as I did. Your name was at the top of the list. I was ready to kill the developers yesterday. Chapters 1 through 5 were fine. I'm learning things as I go, enjoying the game. Then I get to 6. I tried to use my head to beat this part, but with so many things going on at once, and the driving rain making everything almost unsee-able, the clock ticking down, Lucious taunting me, Marie moaning, peasants crying for help, literally infinite armies attacking me, I almost put my fist through the screen! Then I read on different sites that chapter 6 is not winnable. Oh. Gee, thanks, developers. I've heard that the combat sucks in this game, in direct contrast to the nation building elements, which are great. I guess whoever was responsible for the combat also designed chapter 6. That guy should be fired. |

Once i found out what to do it was a snap. But I have stoped playing that part for now. Still ticked about the general game play. You can not win against a hard AI. I have gotten to the point I can no longer or want to learn how to write mods or learn. New program stuff done all that and have no desire to try again.

You would not belive the number of war ships and cannon towers I had against the tower. No invasion tower could have with stood what I put against the invasion forces. I was ticked.

just re-read this thread .. it might be late here, but i get the impression ur a bit ticked off :P

Re reading this thread do nothing for me. Like I said once before. once you know what to do there is no problem it just getting to that understanding. I am still up set with the game play for Anno 1404 there is no reason no one can defeat a hard AI.

Hi,
brand new here, but wanted to give a little "walkthrough" for that mission. I played it once- saying that not to show off about, but to say perhaps there's even better strategy: 1. during those first 15 minutes (all the time in the word while waiting for camps to be produced in the keep), build as many fisherman huts+hemp with weaver's hut+cider, there's plenty of space in the north part of the island and there's a back gate shoreline (you'll be asked anyway to build new fisherman huts). Why- you need ALL possible surplus of those to be able to produce provision for your troops (small packages recquire only fish+ale+clothes). 2.build in total (not during those 15 initial minutes, not enough time and tools) 3 big camps and 3 small camps or equal. I built just one trebusche, they're truly sucks. 3. put camps around/not within the range of Lucius castle so it doesn't shoot at them directly. 4. you will need 2 of those small camps to destroy 2 engineers camps after discovering 3 spies and delivering them to this guy who allies with you (so also built the connecting road earlier) 5. never assault Lucius's castle just the camps he sets + defend your own. 6. that's all. I managed to keep him within his bridgehead all the way with those 3 big+3 small camps+ 1 trebusche (reproducing big camps while they've been destroyed one at a time, as far as I remember three times)- so it's not that though. 7. don't bother to protect the north "backgate" beach, no use to build more than those 3 towers. That were the mistakes I made. Just loosing time and resources. Yes, you have to loose=beeing rescued. That's pretty much all. Best. This message has been edited. Last edited by: Nicolaus_1980, |
