When i try to create an online profile it says upload failed, anyone else got this? or knows how to fix this?

Same here, the " Gateway to the World" bar is gray and when I try to log into my on line profile it establishes the login and starts uploading. After a few seconds "Upload Failed" pops up briefly followed by a fatal error that throws me back into Windows. Could anyone help us fix this problem?
I'm getting the same problem. In the UK here...apparently the Gateway is enabled in Germany...strange....maybe something todo with Ubi UK....?
Ubi NA seems to not have anything going for the Gateway either. Online profiles are working fine, but the actual link to the gateway site is completely dead, the root site isn't even up.

Same here. Sigh. Not that I think "Gateway to the World" would give me anything enjoyable to start with, but it would be nice to see that the game actually works. I missed the part where people yelled out: "IT DOESNT HAVE MULTIPLAYER", and I can't help but to whine and express my disappointment. Ughisoft.

I click profile management.
I have my profile selected. I click "create online profile." I enter my ubi.com username and password. It logs in, and while the window is still up, in the background a new profile appears that says "ANNOnymous(Online)" and then the window says uploading profile. And .5 seconds after it displays "Upload Failed" the game crashes. I need help. |
all i get is gateway to the world not open yet, this could be the cause of your problem.
the other thing is, these forums have been intermittently slow loading, and dawnofdiscovery.ubi.com doesn't resolve to any type of site. Even though it's used within other parts of UBI's site links.
One error is "Sorry, 'dawnofdiscovery.ubi.com' does not exist or is not available." another is "The server at forums-de.ubi.com is taking too long to respond." It's just not working on there end, and it's very displeasing. |

I have a better idea. It's not recognizing the profile I created, and is using a "generic ANNOymous" one and that one cannot be used because either it was already used by another person, or that that name is disabled.
So is it a bug that it's not using my default offline profile that's selected when I click the create online profile? |
Strangely I can create the online profile no problem, the Gateaway website simply doesn't exist. Profile logs in just fine, and I believe it starts off with the name ANNOymous until you rename it anyway, but if it isn't logging in as well, then I don't know what to say /=.

I asked the question in the german section, and the guy said that with my problem, it's because I'm using windows 7.
I'm about to use an activation on my xp boot to see if I can get past my problem and your problem. |

Hey,
I have the same issue.. but with "download failed". When I first created my online profile. I was able to update it with their server and play a few hours.. but now.. the next day.. whenever I select my online profile.. it gives me a "download failed" error. It does make a good connection to their server.. but as soon as it hits the download process.. it failed.. The game tries to "download" data for every game type. so freeplay, story mode, gateway, etc. so the only way to play is to use an offline profile. The strange thing is, when I create a new online profile.. that profile works fine for a few hours.. until I either close Anno or reboot my laptop/pc. Does anyone know if these issues were from day 1.. or just today or yesterday? thanks, Dommel |

Gateway to the World may fail for mostly two reasons:
a) Windows 7 beta - not supported b) a firewalll or proxy software on the client PC like G-Data Antivirus or AVG with a webfilter. Solution: disable the webfilter. |
So is the Gateway to the World working for some people in the UK?
I AM using the Windows 7 Beta....but i can't believe that is an issue...it is essentially the same system as Vista and all other on-line games (that also don't support it yet) work fine. I'm sure its no firewall or proxy at my end. And it does say on the main menu of the game 'Gateway to the world not yet enabled' I don't want to install the game on another operating system already, wasting a activation, just to check to see if the on-line does work on it. It would be VERY nice if the official developers or Ubi support actually posted in this damn forum. I am really disappointed by ubi now. I can live with the protection system and no multi-player. But when the Game2Web feature isn't working and support is non-existent I really can't believe such a large publisher can treat customers like this. |

Hey,
It seems to be working again. (the "download failed" issue). I guess it is/was a server issue. I will keep this thread updated if things change again. Edit: it seems my second online profile doesn't work.. perhaps the server is overloaded? Cya, Dommel This message has been edited. Last edited by: Dommelrbb, |

Hi all!
to use the online profile, please make sure you do not use Windows 7 and that your firewall/antivirus/etc software allows the game to go online. If your error still persist, please adress to the official ubisoft support of your country. Hey Annick,
Thanks for the reply. I don't have a firewall or windows 7. but I am behind a router/gateway. So do you or anyone else know what ports Anno 1404 uses for the profiles and "gateway to world" system? If so, then please let me know so I can try to port forward them edit: oh, and there doesn't seem to be a Anno 1404 section in the Ubisoft support page? Thanks, Dommel. |

Hey,
I had another go at the online profiles. And it seems that every new profile I make, works fine. So I guess that my first online profile must have been corrupted. So if there are people out there that have these issues. Try and make a new online profile. double check if it up/downloads.. then restart the game. double check again.. and if it still works. then perhaps your old profile is corrupted. Goodluck, Dommel |

When going to the US Supprt, search for "Dawn of Discovery". Thats how the game is called there. Viele Grüße, Annick - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Ubisoft-TV, für die aktuelle News zu allen Ubisoft Spielen Bei technischen Fragen hilft euch unser |

I have the same problem.
I created an online profile yesterday, played perfectly nice the first hour - but after starting the game again, I'm only getting "download failed". If it was a firewall issue then I shouldn't have been able to play at all in the beginning either. |
That's not an acceptable solution to the problem, as you should already know before you typed that for us. If you are working for ubi and have figured out it is a problem with your game and an operating system that people use, then the correct solution is that the problem gets fixed, rather than telling the consumer to not use their choice of operating system. Your answer may be a "temporary solution" but that's not what I'm here for. I want to know when the problem itself is going to get fixed. Figure it out, and let us know. |

i have windows 7, never had any problem with its, its far superior than Vista or Xp (at least for me). And ubi didn't made it compatible. this can't happen in such a big comany like Ubi. this problem should be fixed soon. Btw i wanted to create a online account so i can use same acount on Desktop PC and portable PC. this way i would not need to keep copy the profiles each time i leave home. |
Same here, i've Windows 7 RC1 and the game won't let me create an online profile. I don't really know what to say, i surely won't change my operating system just to play one game (and every other games i have works flawessly on Windows 7). Thanks Ubisoft .-. |
Not to mention, that when you switch to another OS you probably lose another activation.
I'll keep Win7, don't care so much about online profiles anyway. Better if they just fix multiplayer instead |
I fail to see what Windows 7 has to do with your profile system failing. It's an entirely web based transaction and you're telling me it won't work because of the OS people run? Bull. Whether Ubisoft likes it or not they need to pull their heads out of their arses and include support for Win7, it's will be out soon enough. |

I have this problem aswell. I cannot continue my campaign because of the "download failed" error. I could play it yesturday, but not today. |
That happend to me to, but i change ANNOnymous to my desired nick, and it sais it's online everytime since. But i see nothing in "Gateway to the world" no errors no nothing. I know my ubi login is correct since i use it now. I also have a related problem, my pre-order-key is apparently "illegal format", so i cant enjoy the "silver ship" and whatever other features im supposed to have when pre-order the game. |
i got 2 keys when buyed the game.
a big to activate the game. and a small like xxxx-xxxx-xxxx to activate the bonnus. it work but i still didn't tryed to find the silver boat. i am still on campain, lvl 8 and last. btw great campaign. |

I have also had problem with non-working saved games. I solved that problem, and it automagically fixed so that i could unlock the pre-order stuff.
This is what i did. Since i only had one profile and i am the only one using my computer i needed to create a new profile. Maybe if you have more than one the installer let's you choose who will have acess to the game, i don't know. Anyways, i created a new profile "AnnoWorkAround" and gave it administrator rights. I then copied my profile wich i used up to this point from "C:\Users\USERNAME\appdata\Roaming\Ubisoft\Anno1404\Profiles\XXXXXXXXXX.profile" and saved it to a non-vista profile-location eg h:\whatever_public_folder\ I then changed Vista-user to the "AndWorkaround" and copied the profile (With folders) to my then empty "appdata\Roaming"-folder. So the new vista-user with administration rights had the following folder "C:\Users\AnnoWorkaround\appdata\Roaming\Ubisoft\Anno1404\Profiles\XXXXXXXXXX.profile". My savegames now work when logged in as that vista user. This also magically solved my other problem with not being able to unlock pre-order-stuff. Now after everytime i've played the game i copy the profile-file back to my standard vista-user. I also copy the saves from "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Anno 1404\Savegames", incase the autopatcher fixes the problem. When this problem has been patched away i will delete this new user-account. Until then, i shall explore the world one save at a time, and with pre-order-stuff =) |
