Is there a patch or update to download to get the game to work on W7? Played great on Vista64. Just upgraded to W7 and the game won't play. Just a black screen. Thanks for any help.

I was going to reinstall it today. So you just installed it and ran it as normal with no compatibility mode settings? I figured if all else failed, I would just run it in WinXP compatibility mode (just property settings, not that Virtual PC implementation stuff), but if it works fine for you "as is," then I won't bother. I install win7 on another HDD and I install DOD but didn't do the up date till I got it running. I have all the setting on high and have AF-2x, AA-2x and Transparency ON. It is running fine other than some of the new bugs that don't bother me. The only thing that I had was the ground was dark and went into the engine file fix it. Plus it did setup to run in window xp sp3 mode on it's own.

So I'm still confused, did anyone manage to get it to run in Windows 7 yet or not? I love the Anno games and I wish there's a way to run it in Windows 7, if not I was goin to resort to VMWare and run it with an XP setup as I can't stand Vista, but 7 has been cleaned up and it's working fine so far. Just sad that 1404 won't play...

I don't intend to start an argument under any circumstances but why do people consider upgrading from XP to Vista or Win7? There is almost nothing worth in Vista or 7 the shortcomings like disk space and memory requirements, overall system responce, e.t.c. XP is superior in almost any and every aspect.
I was just thinking aloud, no answer is needed. Smile
