Hi, Im not shure where to post this (didn't find any bug reporting sections so lemme try it here..

* While I played anno 1404 I declared war on this Leif...something fellow.
* I destoyed many buildings and kicked him off his oriental main island.
* But then I felt kinda sorry for him and I offered a peace treaty....
* I had a few armies on the Leif's (starting) island and builded a keep near the shore there.
* then after hours of peace between us he had a whole new settlement on the oriental island (where I removed all the buildings).
* I saved the game

* I loaded it........and then....CTD!
The loading appeared to be succesfull, but after aproximately 10 seconds ingame I get a CTD (without any error info whatsoever)..just poof! back to desktop.

I kinda traced it down and discovered that it crashes after load the moment AFTER the opponent settled AGAIN on his FORMER oriental island.

pfew..long story.....Well, can anyone else confirm this?

peace

Hi brambo.

I'm having the exact same problem.

Many of my recent save games load and then a few seconds later Crash To Desktop.

I'd played for about 4 and half hours, when I needed to reload due to a late night stupid mistake, and found that the last two hours of saves all failed!!!

The next day I repeated my lost two hours, and a little more, needed to re-load after shutting down Anno, and found again that my recent save games all failed after loading.

I've logged this issue with Ubisoft and supplied DXdiag and one of my failing saves. My status is currently waiting!

All the saves seem OK. They progressively grow in size, the most recent being about 8Mb. All still show pictures in Anno (some have had problems with a separate issue of corrupt save files).

To give some background:

Playing Imperator Scenario.
Quite far in, I've got 2000 Patricians (holding off on nobelmen so as not to anger Lucius).
The other three AI players are all still in the game, Lucius has declared war on giovanni several times.
Most Islands are settled.
Some of the other players do have oriental islands with envoys etc.

System is Vista 32, E8400 (Core 2 Duo), GTX 260, 2Gb Ram, very high game settings.

I've tried a few items that have helped with other issues, just to see, like switching to DX 9. Quicksaving after loading, whilst in low settings. But nothing has worked so far.

I'll keep posting any updates.

Cheers, JB

One more thing (as I'm a guest I can't edit the post above!)

The ubisoft tech support URL is here.

It might be worth also registering your issue? You might have to register though.

Cheers, JB

I have had it do a CTD when it was saving a game, but have never had that where it save it then CTD after loading the save game.

Here is a link to the support forum. Sometimes the translated doesn't pick up all the German so you have to go back out and click back on it again. You might find something in there.

Thanks for the link dmdilks!

I'm a bit confused about the forum structure, is the technical support only in German? Is this section just for english speakers to talk to one another?

Ive had an update from Ubisoft, but it was a first shot, things like emptying temp folder and disabling background apps and the internet.

Still no luck. Have updated my question to them and await further info.

The problem is very repeatable for me, I have a number of save files that all fail in the same way. Any one save, say savegame149, will take the exact same amount of time to crash each time. But different saves take different times to crash, so savegame149 might always take 4 seconds, savegame148 always takes 9 seconds.

I haven't timed them with any accuracy, but they seem very repeatable failures, like a particular event occuring after loading is triggering the crash.

It is a German site. I don't know because I haven't tried it. I put it up there to help us English speaking people out. Becuase we have no support from this forum. Plus Ubisoft will do nothing for us so we have to do it on are own. All you can do is try it and see what happens. One other thing you can do is go to the Google translate site and type it and translate it to German and post.

Thanks again dmdilks.

I've posted the issue in the German forums, under crashes / blue screens etc. we'll see if there's any response.

The post is here , on page 3 of the thread.

Ive also translated it into German via Google, I hope it's not total gibberish!

evening gents,
also experiencing this issue, load up a saved game
everything seems to be in perfect order and
then after 10 seconds everytime crashes to desktop.

The only pattern i can see is that it seems to happen after ive been playing for a long period of time.

for example, saved games that ive only played a few hours on load up without this problem but saved games ive played 8 + hours all crash which might be explained by this saved game file size effecting it somehow idea.

suppose i'll have to submit a ticket with ubisoft and wait it out.

Second round of ideas from Ubisoft support are all fixes to other known issues (mostly pre-patch issues), but I'll let you know how I get on....

Still no joy.

They had me try adding a new user (administrator) and running under it. Also running Anno as admin, and deleting contents of Tages directory to force re-verification of registration details.

I've updated my response to them, and wait...

EDIT ....my status is currently HOLDING, which is a new one!?! Perhaps I'm holding for a developer? It would be nice to think so. I posted them a crashdump, which may have helped?

When you guys play the game for more than 8 or 10 hours is that at one sitting. Because I play for days at a time. When I'm not playing and have to do something else I hit the windows key and minimize it. When I want to start playing again I just click on it and I'm playing again.

I had been doing the same, and as you say it's very successful, but it was only when I came to re-load after a mistake, and later after shutting down anno due to windows etc. updates needing a restart, that I discovered the crashes after loading all those saves I'd been making.

So no amount of minimizing helped that situation. It doesn't fill me with faith in playing it this way. We have a few power cuts up here, especially at this time of year, I don't fancy loosing anymore gaming hours!

Cheers, JB
